If you’re a WA homeowner thinking about installing a home battery, there’s never been a better time. Starting July 2025, the WA Government is launching a powerful new rebate for batteries — designed to slash upfront costs and help households take control of their energy bills. Here’s what you need to know, including rebate amounts, eligibility, and how to apply.
How Much Is the Battery Rebate in WA?
The WA Government is offering a generous battery rebate starting from 1 July 2025. The rebate amount is based on the usable capacity of your battery, but only up to a maximum of 10 kWh — anything above that won’t receive additional support. The rebate depends on which electricity provider you’re with and the size of the battery you install:
- Synergy customers can receive $130 per kilowatt-hour (kWh) of usable battery capacity, up to a maximum of $1,300.
- Horizon Power customers receive a much higher rate of $380 per kWh, with a cap of $3,800.
This means if you install a 10 kWh battery, you could get either $1,300 or $3,800 off the cost depending on your provider. And if you combine this with the Federal battery rebate, your total savings for 10kWh battery could exceed $7,500 — making it one of the best times to invest in battery storage.
Customer Type | WA Rebate per kWh | WA Max Rebate | Federal Rebate (10 kWh) | Total Potential Rebate |
---|---|---|---|---|
Synergy Customers | $130/kWh | $1,300 | $3,720 | $5,020 |
Horizon Power Customers | $380/kWh | $3,800 | $3,720 | $7,520 |
